Jacob earned his master’s in Human Rights from the University of Minnesota with a focus on international conflict and security.
His B.A. is from St. John’s University, Minnesota with a double major in Political Science and Peace Studies.

- Biography
Prior to starting his PhD, Jacob worked with two non-profit organizations, the Religious Freedom Institute, USA and the Centre for Social Justice, Pakistan. With RFI Sachal was responsible for writing the Religious Freedom Landscape report for Pakistan and administering part of the Religious Freedom Smart Survey for South Asia. At CSJ he worked on various research and advocacy projects. Jacob prepared alternative reports for UN treaties Pakistan has ratified. He was part of the Pakistan NGO representatives group which presented the UNCERD report in Geneva in 2016. Research interests include terrorism, human rights institutions, technology and South Asian politics. He occasionally writes articles for Pakistani newspapers including Dawn and Naya Daur.
Jacob works with Dr. Anthony Lemieux and Dr. Weeda Mehran on the Mobilizing Media Project. The objective of the project is to analyze and understand terrorist organization communications. He is fluent in Urdu and English and understands Punjabi.
