ATLANTA — Transcultural Conflict and Violence Initiative is excited to highlight the news surrounding the remarkable achievements of Georgia State University alum, Kareem El Damanhoury. who won a News Emmy Award as part of the CNN team for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage of the Israel-Gaza War. The Emmy was awarded at the 45th Annual News & Documentary Emmys.
El Damanhoury, who obtained his Ph.D. in Communication from Georgia State University us currently an assistant professor in the University of Denver’s Department of Media, Film, and Journalism Studies and a faculty affiliate in the Center for Middle East Studies. Since 2017, he has served as a content producer for CNN.
CNN Worldwide set a new network record of 12 Emmy® Awards in the 45th Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Award competition. The winners were announced by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on September 25 and 26, 2024 at the Palladium Theater Times Square Theater in New York City.
