ATLANTA — Georgia State University, Professor of Communication, founding co-director of the Atlanta Global Studies Center, and lead researcher in the Transcultural Conflict and Violence Initiative, Dr. Anthony F. Lemieux joined Atlanta’s 11Alive News (WXIA) to discuss the recent impact of the CrowdStrike software that disrupted everyday life across the globe causing some TV stations off the air, and impacting hospital services, banks, and transportation. In the article titled, “Global tech outages expose cybersecurity vulnerabilities,” Lemieux stressed all indications are this event was a mistake, not a nefarious act, but says the impacts on companies and the public show the potential for problems if that power gets into the wrong hands.
