FLORIDA —The GNSI Tampa Summit, established by the Global and National Security Institute held its three-day interdisciplinary conference on March 5th – 7th at the University of South Florida. The conference examined the revolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as it transforms the very nature of great power competition, conflict, and international cooperation, bringing together scholars, researchers, and practitioners with policymakers to ensure that decision-makers can access the most current and complete knowledge possible. Among the attendees was Georgia State University Doctoral Student, Joint Special Operations University Non-Resident Fellow, and Transcultural Conflict and Violence Presidential Fellow Sonny S. Patel.
At the University of Central Florida, March 11th-13, The 12th annual International Crisis and Risk Communication Conference (ICRCC) sponsored by the Nicholson School of Communication and Media was held. Patel presented his research titled “Building Resilience Through Communication.” His research explored building resilience and reducing resistance to strategic communication messages. Internal and external governmental communications are rarely identical. Yet, both must serve three common purposes – to ignite the recovery process, promote adaptable functioning, and enhance competency in coping with past traumas and disinformation campaigns.
“I’m excited to participate in these important conferences discussing some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of technology, geopolitics, and crisis response,” said Mr. Patel. “As AI capabilities continue advancing, it is critical we have discussions on using this technology responsibly and for the benefit of all humanity.”
